Agriculture & Environment
Lebanon produces a variety of fruits and vegetables. The largest crops (more than 20 kilo tons in 2003) include potatoes, oranges, apples, tomatoes and grapes which are all grown and available in Southern Mount Lebanon. Exotic crops in the area are mostly avocados. Darouna works with local farmers to improve their yield and introduce new technologies to help them sell their produce locally.
Besides spearheading projects that clean the environment and increase awareness about the environment, south Mount Lebanon is in need of a replanting effort to plant trees. Darouna is active on all fronts.
Tree Planting
Besides spearheading projects that clean the environment and increase awareness about the environment, Darouna works with municipalities to replant and plant trees.
We at Darouna believe it is necessary fo the improvement of the environment to plant trees. Our goal is to plant trees each year. Recently, we planted 5000 pine trees in the southern part of Mount Lebanon.
Andaf Ahla
“ANDAF AHLA’S” aim was to clean select villages in south Mount Lebanon and raise awareness about recycling and the dangers of plastic products. Together with the Lebanese Boy Scouts and various municipalities, Darouna brought together local residents of all ages together towards working on a common goal. We helped improve the local environment in south Mount Lebanon one village at a time.
